IELTS- International English Language Learning Testing System
A high-stakes English test for study, migration or work.
The IELTS test is recognized by over 9,000 institutions worldwide. This includes over 2,000 universities in the US, and many universities in the UK and Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as numerous professional organizations around the world.
There are four sections in the IELTS test:
TOEFL & PTE
Test of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in English-speaking universities. The test is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions. TOEFL is one of the two major English-language tests in the world, the other being the IELTS.
TOEFL is a trademark of the Educational Testing Service (ETS), a private non-profit organization, which designs and administers the tests. ETS issues official score reports, sent independently to institutions, for two years following the test.
Pearson Test of English is designed to reward positive achievement in English language learning. PTE integrates all four skills (Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing) and focuses on assessing the ability of communicating in English, rather than test-taking skills.
The Art of Conversation
One to One conversation
While interacting socially, one to one conversationis imperative. Clear and precise communication is necessary for success in many human endeavours. However, in today’s society, face-to-face conversations have become less frequent due to technology such as email, texting and cell phones.
Most social interactions take place in a group setting, and navigating the waters of group conversation can be much trickier than one-on-one conversations.
Group discussion has its own ethics- to be cordial and polite as it involves exchange of ideas when pivotal things are learnt from each other.
Public speaking is one of the greatest human fears. On being asked, people would probably say they don’t like public speaking. They may even admit to being afraid of it, since fear of speaking in the public is a very common thing. Or they may just be shy or introverted. For those reasons, many people avoid public speaking if they can.
It is the development of the organized pattern of behaviors and attitudes that makes a person distinctive. Personality development occurs by the ongoing interaction of temperament, character, and environment.
